Students' School

As more and more schools realized that the education is not limited to academy and students should learn things beyond the textbooks, the idea of the students’ school has come out. I personally agree that students should be allowed and encouraged to set their own rules for their school. Using this method, students will not be frustrated or feeling passive to the rules as it is set by themselves. If the rule setting is under the supervision of the teachers, the new rule will not make much differences but it may bring about a win-win situation.

Passing the Idea

I am not good at delivering something by talking, so in some cases, my words may lead to miscommunications. For many times I have imagined to tell my thought to other people would be as simple as to pass him a piece of work, and that person would get what I mean easily.

I am not Arguing

People may not understand my meaning in some talks, and then I get impatient and make things worse. After I return home I decide to present my idea over again. This time, I told myself not to be worried since a white sheet of paper will definitely “understand” what I have written on it, and it will not “forget”, of course. For instance, my friend told me that when I was telling him my observation on the relationship between the shape of a tie and its best fit person last time, he got a feeling that I was angry because I was talking loudly, and I seemed to be arguing about something when he told me he didn’t understand. I know it a defect of my character; I am going to try my best to change it. However, I would like to use something else to cover it efficiently.

No one will know what I am “talking about” when I am rushing on the paper. Then, after they get the piece of my work, I will probably not be around then. No matter how they feel about my thought they cannot say to the paper “I don’t understand!” or “How can it be possible”. In fact, when someone is reading that piece of work, he may find a sentence between lines, “believe it or not, that what I want to say. Besides, I am not arguing now.”

I will Show You How It Works

My mother knew nearly nothing about the computer. What she could do was only surfing the Internet to read news. Whenever I wanted her to help me to get something done with the computer, she never knew what I was talking about. “What? Where is the ‘Favorites’ in the web page?” she always asked questions like that. Finally, when I realized that I had spent much money to tell her everything on the phone, I started to write something. This time, unlike the “idea” before, I had to try my best to correct the words and the expressions I used to make my mum understood. Before the time that I really needed her help, she had already been able to use the computer according to what I had written on the paper.

Other than a procedure like operating the computer, I have also written something to my classmates in primary school. He needed my help on math, and there was once I spent the whole afternoon to explain a math problem to him. Before I left the school, he got another problem, and that one was even more difficult than the problem before! I gave up talking to him about the problem, but after I returned home, I solve the problem step by step on the paper, indicating how I was thinking, why this kind of formula could be used, how I got the conclusion and so on. It really took me a long time, but eventually he managed to understand the solution I gave him in one hour on the next day, and when other classmates wanted to know how I get the problem solved, I could simply pass the paper to them so that I would not have to repeat myself again and again.

Finally, to end what ever I have wriiten to others, I would not say, "an exposition is used to tell other people how to do something, why the princlple is right." Rather, I would like to say, an exposition is to pass your ideas and thought to thoers.
